Pekanbaru, 29/6 (ANTARA) - A wild bear have been terrorizing Tanjung Sari Village for couple days in Indragiri Hulu District, Riau Province. The villagers assumed that the forestry industy, which cut down the forest near the Kerumutan Conservation Area for making eucalyptus plantion, has forced out the savage animal from its habitat.
"That bear used to be inside Kerumutan Forest, but many wild animals have been breaking out from the forest because forestry company operating near the conservation area," Tanjung Sari Villager, Tohbasir, told ANTARA on Sunday (28/6).
The villagers now feel unsecure because the bear not only roam in the settlement, but also try to break into the house. The wild animal has three meters height and scary all the villagers.
Ever since the forestry company operates near the Kerumutan forest, Tohbasir said that wild animal such as bear and tiger have been running wild inside the village. The company is Sumatera Riang Lestari (SRL) from April Group, he said.
Social Security Head of SRL, Aprizon, denied that the wild animal terror occured due to company operation. The distance between company concession and Kerumutan Coservation Area is far away, he said.
"The terror from the bear and tiger caused by the villagers who hunt those wild animals," Aprizon said.
