Police confiscate 489pcs of Ecstasy

Pekanbaru, Riau, Feb (ANTARARIAU News) - The drugs handling division of Riau's provincial police arrested a man identified by the initial Apr (31), a suspected drug-courier, and confiscated at least 489 pieces of ecstasy worth more than 146 million rupiah from him.

"The suspect was nabbed on Tuesday (Feb.2) on a road in Siak district," Riau police chief of drugs handling division, Adjunct Senior Commissioner Ramlan Rasyid said here on Thursday.

Apr took the pink ecstasy which is normally called "pink love" from a suspect TT.

"We collected several names and TT is still at large," Ramlan said.

In the meantime, Apr admitted that he was only a courier who was instructed by someone whose identity has been at the police's hand, and intended to sell the ecstasy worth 300 thousand rupiah each peace in Pekanbaru, Riau provincial capital.

Apr, however, admitted that it was the first time for him to become the ecstasy courier.

"I was only instructed to take the drugs," Apr said in Riau police headquarters.

In addition, police also confiscated a motor cycle and mobile phone belonging to Apr, aimed at uncovering the larger drugs network.

The suspect was allegedly part of a big drug network in Pekanbaru.

Upon the drug case, the suspect will face a sanction as stipulated in the articles 112 and 114 of the drug law with the threat of five year prison confinement.
