Pekanbaru, Riau, (Antarariau.com)- A US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) 18 satellite detected seven hotspots of forest fires across Sumatra Island on Monday.
"The data on the detection of the hotspots was obtained on Monday," the Riau disaster mitigation office (BPBD) said in a statement on Monday evening.
Of the seven hotspots, four were detected in Riau Province. Each hotspot was respectively found in Segati village and Pangkalan Lesung village, Pelalawan district, as well as in Sungai Sarik village and Koto Perambahan villba in Kampar district.
The hotspots indicated forest fires that could produce haze.
