Chevron, Police Cooperate to Crack Down on Oil Theft

Pekanbaru, Riau, Sept 23 (Antarariau.com) - PT Chevron Pacific Indonesia is cooperating with police to crack down on oil theft cases that have been taking place in Riau province so far, Communications Manager of Chevron for Sumatra Tiva Permata said.

"Oil theft has been taking place in the past several years that caused losses to the state. Therefore, Chevrons security department is cooperating with police to eliminate the crime," Tiva Permata told Antara through a short text message here on Tuesday.

Police arrested on Monday last week Wak pai (55) and Rudi Irmansyah (31) who were allegedly fences of oil theft belonging to Chevron Pacific Indonesia.

"They were arrested in Mandau sub-district, Bengkalis," Riau Regional Police Spokesman Adjunct Senior Commissioner Guntur Aryo Tejo said.
