Jakarta, (Antarariau.com) - The Indonesian Social Affairs Ministry will send 150 Disaster Response Team (Tagana) members to help with humanitarian mission in quake-hit Nepal.
"We offer our deepest condolences to the earthquake victims in Nepal and are preparing 150 Tagana personnel who are ready to depart (for Nepal) any time," Social Services Minister Khofifah Indar Parawansa said here on Monday.
She noted that the ministry is also preparing aid packages, including blankets, clothes and foods, for the victims of the disastrous earthquake.
The people are in dire need of clothes and food as the weather now is cold in Nepal, she remarked.
Other humanitarian aid including SAR, tents, and medicines are also being prepared, she added.
"The Social Services Ministry will coordinate with the Foreign Ministry to send the aid. However, we are still waiting for the President directives to decide the quantity of aid and other kinds of aid," she pointed out.
Some 34 Indonesians were in Nepal when an earthquake measuring 7.9 on the Richter scale struck the country on Saturday (April 25). Seventeen of the Indonesians have been successfully contacted and they are all in good health, the Foreign Ministry said in a press statement released on Sunday.
By Monday, the earthquake left more than 2,000 people dead.
