Pekanbaru, (Antarariau.com) - A teenager was killed and 17 others were injured after a pickup van they were traveling in collided with another car in Rokan Hulu district, Riau province Friday.
"The victim is a 12-year old child identified as Sebastian Sutanto. Two other children sustained serious injuries. They are identified as Gio Alpajri, aged 11 years, and Tabur, aged 12 years," spokesman for the Riau provincial police Adjunct Senior Commissioner Guntur Aryo Tejo said here Saturday.
Both Alpajri and Tabur are receiving intensive medical treatment, while 15 other teenagers sustained minor injuries.
It is believed the pickup was speeding when it collided with another car, he said.
"The driver intended to overtake a car when another pickup van came from the opposite direction," he said.
