Pekanbaru, Riau, Feb 1 (Antarariau.com) - A unit of the drug squad of the Pelalawan police in Riau Province has arrested a drug trafficker long in the police list of wanted men (DPO).

"Apart from being a DPO, the suspect has also been a police target for a new drug trafficking case in Pangkalan Kerinci," Pelalawan police chief Adj. Sr. Comer. Ade Johan Sinaga said here on Sunday.

The suspect identified as ZI was picked up by police form his house at Jalan Sakura, Pangkalan Kerinci, Pelalawan on Saturday night.

Ade said police found the whereabouts of the suspect after receiving a tip from local people. Police then sent a plain clothes detective to make an order for drug from the suspect to confirm the information before making the arrest.

Police confiscated a package of methamphetamine and millions of rupiahs from the suspect. Meanwhile, a man and a woman were arrested on charge of carrying 19 kilograms of marijuana from Aceh to North Sumatra.

The two Mrs Poni (520 and AN (29) were nabbed in a bus in the sub-district of Stabat, Langkat North Sumatra on Sunday. Langkat police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Dwi Asmoro said the two were arrested on charge of being in possession of 19 kilograms of marijuana.

The two , however, said they were paid by someone to carry the drug to Medan, North Sumatra.

They told their investigators it was not the first time they carried the drug from Aceh to Medan as couriers.
