Pekanbaru, Riau (Antarariau.com) - The Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) has recorded that China was Riau main export destination country, with exports reaching US$687.04 million, or 16.88 percent of the total value, for the January-May 2016 period.
"China is ranked first among the top 10 main export destination countries, five of which had the largest contribution," Head of BPS Riau Mawardi Arsad stated in Pekanbaru, Thursday.
According to Mawardi, during the January-May 2016 period, non-oil exports to the 10 main destination countries contributed 70.37 percent to the total export value of Riau.
Mawardi revealed that India stood second on the list, with $610.15 million, or 14.99 percent of the total exports followed by Pakistan, at $283.53 million or 6.97 percent; Malaysia, at $280.34 million or 6.89 percent; and the Netherlands, at $265.28 million or 6.52 percent.
"The contribution of Riau top five export destination countries reached 52.24 percent, while the other five nations accounted for 18.13 percent of the total export value," he noted.
In terms of the 10 largest non-oil export destination countries, exports to seven nations had increased and to three countries had decreased compared to April 2016.
The largest increase was recorded in the exports to Pakistan at $40.08 million; Ukraine, $38.41 million; Singapore, $21 million; and the United States, $13.36 million.
The decline in exports to India amounted to $27.35 million; China, $20.43 million; and Egypt, $17.80 million.
