Pekanbaru, Riau (Antarariau.com) - The Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) said China was the largest contributor to imports of commodities other than oil and gas by the province of Riau in the first half of the year.
Riau imported US$173.7 million worth of goods not including oil and gas or 29.8 percent of its total imports of the commodities in the January-June period this year, Zulkifli, an official of the provincial office of BPS said here on Thursday.
Zulkifli said the second largest source of imports was Malaysia from which imports were valued at US$72.38 million or 12.42 percent of its total imports of commodities not including oil and gas.
The second largest was Canada from which imports were valued at US$67.62 million (11.60 percent) , followed by Finland US$62.75 million or 10.77 percent.
Increase was recorded in imports by Riau from nine of 10 exporting countries with the highest increase recorded by Malaysia from which imports rose 161.53 percent.
