Pekanbaru, Riau (Antarariau.com)- Six hotspots were detected on Sumatra Island on Sunday, according to the Pekanbaru meteorology office.
Of the six hotspots, five were found in Jambi Province and one in Riau Province, Slamet Riyadi, spokesman of the Pekanbaru office, said here, Sunday.
The hotspots were detected by NASA s Terra and Aqua satellites.
In Riau, the hotspot was located in Ukui Sub-district, Pelalawan District.
Up to Oct. 14, fires gutted plantation and forest areas measuring 3,810 hectares in Riau.
The Riau police have detained 95 suspects allegedly involved in 74 fire cases.
Besides, the Riau authorities have extended forest fire emergency status until November 30, 2016.
