ekanbaru, Mar 25 (ANTARA)- Blow Out Preventer (BOP) to curb the wild gas blowout of the Segat II well of PT Kalila in Langgam subdistrict, Pelalawan, Riau, will arrive here from Singapore on Friday (Mar 26) by a Hercules cargo plane. Operation Area Manager of PT Kalila Energi Ltd Agustinus Parinding said here Thursday that upon arrival, the BOP would be directly built before it is operated to put an end to the gas blowout. \It was planned that tomorrow following installation, on Monday (Mar 29) the BOP would already have been in place for operation,\ he said. He said it was actually planned to start operating the BOP on Friday (Mar 26), but it was delayed due to problems in transporting the 20-ton equipment. Earlier it was planned to fly the equipment to Indonesia by an Antonov plane, but there was no room enough for the 20-ton equipment, and later decided to fly it by the bigger Hercules. Kalila has already sent for four expert teams from the United States for field evaluation and preparations. Simulations had also been conducted before actual operations. Besides efficiency, simulations were also necessary to reduce operational errors. Segat-2 was for the first time drilled in 2005 and is the oldest well abandoned after oil drilling. It was later found that it was a source of gas which may reach 10 MMSCFD (Million Metric Standard Cubic Feet per Day), so that the company decided to exploit it.
