Riau Promotes Culture-Based Tourism

Pekanbaru, Riau (Antarariau.com) - Riau Governor Arsyadjuliandi Rachman said that the local administration is currently promoting culture-based tourism at every opportunity.

"Tourist attractions, which are developed in Riau today, are more about cultures. This is aimed to attract tourists who are interested in culture," the governor stated here on Monday.

He added that many tourists are interested in witnessing different cultures and events in Riau.

"The local people in Riau are not only able to dance and read poetry but also have historical heritages that strengthen its cultural tourism," he noted.

The governor remarked that one traditional attraction that has been held since hundreds of years ago is a track racing in Kuantan Singingi.

"There is also a barge burning in Rokan Hilir, which is eagerly awaited by Chinese tourists," the governor revealed, adding that Bono Waves also attracts tourists to surf on the river.

In addition to cultural tourism, Riau also has a national park which is a habitat of elephants.
