Tembilahan, Riau (Antarariau.com) - The Administration of Indragiri Hilir District, Riau Province, promotes coconut potential to representatives of the Hainan Provincial Administration of China in a meeting which was facilitated by China Council of Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) in Jakarta on Wednesday.
If the coconut trade relation with China has been established, we are ready to supply for China," Indragiri Hilir District head Muhammad Wardan said.
In order to follow up coconut investment cooperation plan, Wardan hoped there will be further talks between the Indragiri Hilir District Administration and the Hainan Provincial Administration.
Meanwhile, Hainan Representative He Sheng Xian said that there is an increasing popularity of coconut-based food products in China, such as coconut milk drinks, candies and biscuits.
Xian said there are 400 coconut industries in Hainan with a strong market and coconut plantation of less than 70,000 hectares.
"Obviously, we need more supply than that is currently derived from local coconut plantation to increase the production of coconut-based products. We need to export coconut," Xian said.
Xian hoped that the Administration of Indragiri Hilir District can provide more detailed prospects for the cooperation to be realized in the coming months.
