Indonesian, Thai Air Force Conclude Militari Exercise

Pekanbaru, Riau (Antarariau.com) - Indonesian Air Force TNI-AU and Royal Thai Air Force concluded their two-week joint military exercise at Roesmin Nurjadin air base in Pekanbaru, Riau province, Sumatra, on Thursday.

The conclusion of the exercise codenamed "Elang Thainesia" was led by deputy air force chief of staff Vice Marshal Hadiyan Sumintaatmadja at a military ceremony in Roesmin Nurjadin air base.

"I believe the exercise would enrich the experience and knowledge of the two countries' air forces, especially their pilots, technicians, and other supporting staff," he stated.

He noted that the exercise was mainly aimed at strengthening the relations between the two countries.

However, he also believed that capabilities and professionalism, as well as tactics and combat techniques in air operations would also improved.

RTAF chief Air Chief Marshal Surasak Toongtong admitted that the exercise offered a good opportunity for capability improvement for the two countries air forces, especially in air operations and tactics.

He hoped the friendly relations that have developed so far would be deepened further in the future.

He also hoped that Elang Thainesia exercise would continue to progress and bring a lot of benefits for TNI AU and RTAF.

The joint exercise, which began at the end of July, involved 300 personnel from the two countries.

Six F16 fighter jets, two Hercules from RTAF, a squadron of F16 "Fighting Falcon," and Hawk 100/200 from Air Squadron 16 and 12 of Roesmin Nurjadin airbase were also involved in the exercise.

This was the 18th joint exercise by TNI-AU and RTAF. Pekanbaru hosted the exercise after hosting a similar exercise with Republic of Singapore Air Force.
